ASDG RELEASES PRODUCT TO BENEFIT CHARITIES
ASDG announces the release of an arcade style game to benefit three national
charities. The game, RingWar, is ASDG's holiday figt to the Amiga community.
Featured charities include the American Red Cross, the American Cancer
Society and the Muscular Dystroyphy Association
Madison WI, December 16, 1991 - ASDG Incorporated, a leading developer of
advanced color image processing software and hardware, announced the
availability of an arcade style game, RingWar, to benefit three national
charities including the American Cancer Society, the Muscular Dystrophy
Association, and the American Red Cross.
RingWar will be distributed in the same manner as "shareware." That is, via
electronic bulletin board systems and other freely redistributable software
distribution channels. However, unlike shareware, where a voluntary donation
is sent to the author, ASDG provides the names and addresses of three
national charities to which they ask a voluntary donation of $10 be sent.
"Really, this should be called charityware instead of shareware." said ASDG
president, Perry Kivolowitz.
The release of an arcade style game does not signal a change in ASDG'
mission which continues to be the development of software and hardware
products relating to color image processing. The company cites its long
standing precedent of Amiga community service dating back to the VD0:
Recoverable Ram Disk. The company hopes its latest service will be enjoyed
by the community as well as stimulate donations to some worthy charitable
causes.
RingWar, designed to have the look of an old fashioned vector based
shootemup, was written for ASDG by staff member, Eric Bazan. The game's
opening credits provide the mailing addresses of three suggested charities.
The game itself is copyrighted by Mr. Bazan, but is freely redistributable.
